Anti-Meta nowadays is just an umbrella term. It's like saying I want to make an aggro deck. There's no per se "Anti-Meta" deck anymore. If you noticed in my deck folder, I have no deck called Anti-Meta lol.
The problem with people who build anti-meta decks, they include too many anti-meta cards which slows their deck down. The more you try to negate, the slower your deck will be and it will clog. Hence, you have to pick what you want to negate. For example, you don't want to run skill drain, vanity's emptiness, anti-spell fragrance, AND macro cosmos. That's too much. Not only that, but a simple trap stun or decree can just kill you if you do that.
Currently, effects and special summoning are the most important, so if you focus your deck on just negating those 2 things, you should be good. As mooyan curry stated, this can be easily dun via Tribute Stun or as I like to call it - Anti-Extra. Majesty's Fiend stops effects while Vanity's Fiend/Vanity's Emptiness/Monarch Dominion field spell stops special summoning. Trains are also good because they run 3x skill drain and 3x anti-spell fragrance, killing both Qli and Nekroz. Yosenju now is considered anti-meta due to 3x vanity's emptiness, mistake, and the mind crushes.
The other thing about making an anti-meta deck is that you need to know what the meta is. [] This is as follows:
Tier 0: Qli, Nekroz
Tier 1: Tellarknight, Shaddoll, Yosenju, Burning Abyss, Ritual Beasts, Volcanics, Atlantean, Masked Hero
The lower tiers don't matter for now. This is based on the most recent tournament standings. Each of these decks themselves also have anti-meta cards for mirror matches and also meta matches. So take that into consideration and actually look at the decklists for all these so you know what you're up against.
