is there a way to view the field like on YVD,DN and old YGO games ?

the images in the Textures folder are naturally 2D,so I suspect it's just a matter of editing the right file

I'm looking for it as we speak,but it would be nice if someone would save me the trouble of finding it

I also wonder why the game was designed with a 4:3 aspect ratio in mind,as opposed to the more common 16:9

You can control the camera with the file game.cpp inside the irrlicht loop.
I've tried playing with it but part of the ui are printed in 2d on the screen (the card atk/def numbers) and can't be moved easily.
I'm making a change on the camera format to be able to control it like in fps games :-P

I just checked, the game is in the 16:9 format (1024*640). Have you tried checking your desktop resolution?

when I try to go full-screen (720p) via the system.comf,the cards in the deck,hand,field and deck editing menu appear to stretch (through the description window on the left remains as is)

I'm working on it because I'd like a moving camera too.
If I manage to add this feature I'll send the patch to percy and he'll release an update.

The title bar makes the windows larger than it should, you are right. I usually address this by manually stretching the window while trying to keep the proportions at 16:9

I think the problem with the cards is that the script forces a specific aspect ratio on the cards regardless of the cards' original proportions

Will this be a permanent change or will it come with options to switch around? I'm a little confused by what this will do.
