I would like to dabble into the Monarch archetype and play around with them.
I'd prefer to use both monarch and mega monarchs,
so would you have any advice on creating this deck (not for competitive use) like what other archetypes should be looked into and some neat cards that help monarchs and just general tips.

Thanks for the advice ^^

This a prototype deck of monarch made (for fun only) by my friend. Its freakingly powerfull. Defeat me 3 times a row.
I only save for the last time (when i win). i dont know why he fill his extra deck, eventhough he never used it.
He hate frogs, so this is not a grog monarch.
He didnt add any mega monarch, because he waiting for LIGHT-DARK-WIND attribute Mega Monarch.

Some ways to play Monarchs:
Frog Monarchs
Macro Monarchs -> Is dead in TCG since Fissure and Macro is limited
Gravekeeper Monarchs
Strike Ninja Monarchs-> also pretty much dead

About Mega Monarchs I don't have clue I stop playing them when I found out that Macro was dead.

i never liked old fashioned method you are lucky if anything stays on the field long enough for a turn i prefere using frogs because most of the times they are not on the field they can be reused without wasting any time

In Macro or Strike Monarch you also always get some tribute fodder. The only downside is that you need for to have Fissure or Cosmos on the field to get your D.D. Survivor/Scout Plane back and for Strike Ninja atleast two Scout Planes in grave. Otherwise its pretty much the same as frogs as your tribute fodder always comesback plus both variants are more anti-meta than Frog Monarchs. Frog Monarch is the only Deck that was not hit by the Ban List though.

I am just gonna leave my deck here for some feedback
I don't particularly like frogs only because we use OCG swap frog, if it was tcg then i would use it.

Are you playing OCG or TCG?

Instead of Frogs and D.D. builds I use Level Eater.
I like it cause it leaves me with backrow(unlike Frogs), and I don't have to rely on a spell/trap(D.D.).

It still lack on power. How about just change 'non mega' earth, with wind or light?
The 'non mega' fire monarch is quite good, make your opponent discard his/her hand.
Just keep the mega monarch like that. We could use trap 'The First Monarch' as a tribute for Mega Monarch.

And try to add some level eater as Jacollo suggest it. Its a good advice.
This deck have a good monster effect and nice protection. But still lack on power.
I think, it really dont need extra deck.

I just duel againts AI-Chaos Dragon. And i cannot beat BLS with 3000 attack, and my hand is full with earth-water-fire monarch. Eventhought i summon them, their effect cannot destroy BLS.

Level eater is a bad choice as i can not tribute it and be pointless, as it destroys potential rank 6 or 8 plays. An extra deck is just good in general, it gives options and if the chance arrives, it can be used.

From what i see, the monarch's only power is because of its effects. A power play for this deck is to use Illusory Snatcher and make a quick xyz or have extra attack on board for game. (if you missed it)

Saying that this deck does not have enough power by only going against one type of deck is an unjustified response. Maybe you didn't get a good hand or the AI got super lucky.
If it is a reoccurring thing, then it is dealt with.

Here is an edited version of my deck. I have taken what has been said into thought and here is the end product.

Laser, Level Eater can be Tributed for a Tribute Summon, so I find it perfect for Monarchs. Extra Deck is helpful, but not in Monarchs deck. This Archetype relies on Tribute Summons. Anyway, if you want to play XYZ you should probably get rid of March of the Charging Emperors, it kinda blocks your Extra Deck play. If you wanna keep it, I suggest you get Seal of Orichalcos, for ATK boost, and Summon Breaker, for keeping opponent in check.

I got a good hand, and i have a material on the field for tribute summon. But monarches at my hand are Water (destroy 2 s/t), Earth (destroy 1 set card), Fire (send 1 card from opponent hand).

I think double summon will become a handy card.

And i agree with Jacollo opinion 🙂 but i think i will try your deck first. To understand what do you want or what your playstyle.

UPDATED :
I just test your monarch. Its good and pretty stable now, i win 3 times a row. Eventhough AI swarms me with its most powerfull monster, still easy to defeat them.

one times, i got 3 megamonarch at my hand, so i thought : its better to have trade-in.

I don't really like Level Eater in Monarchs deck. True you can have backrow, but if you play Frog Monarch you don't really need backrow because you usually play 3 E-con, Soul Exchange and/or Creature Swap to get rid of strong monster. Also Treeborn/Roanin can come back without having an lvl 5 or higher monster on the field Level Eater not.
About the Extra deck it depends on how you want to play. When Fishborg Blaster was unbanned and Formula at 3 a friend of mine played Synchro Monarchs. He could easily summon 8 star Synchros or Shooting Star ( ok now its even easier). And even before that he played Monarchs with Quickdraw Synchro (kind of a Debris-Hime deck).

problem is that method relies entirely on cards still being there next turn. have to understand that meta decks destruction ability is standard if you are not prepared for that pretty much screwed.

Laser said that not for competitive just for fun purpose, so it do not have to powerfull againts meta.
If this deck could show Monarch combo, i think its ok.
Lately many monarch cards + monarch support cards come out, that do not rely extra deck.
(its could negate monster effect if extra deck contain 0 cards)

Here is a build you can try:

Monsters
3x Caius (the best monarch)
3x Raiza (the second best monarch)
2x Thestalos
2x Light and Darkness Dragon
1x Dust Spirit (It's a spirit but very nice effect)
1x Gorz (It's an OTK stopper)
1x Tragoedia (Same as Gorz)
2x Treeborn Frog
3x Swap Frog
3x Dupe Frog
2x Ronintadin
2x Effect Veiler
3x Battle Fader (a must have for monarch decks)

Spells
3x Pot of Duality
3x Enemy Controller
2x Soul Exchange
2x Creature Swap
1x Dark Hole
1x Foolish Burial

Note: Monarchs have a good search card (Unearthing of the Monarchs) but it doesn't go with the treeborn frog so if you want to put it you can go around it somehow. Also Illusory Snatch is a very good card because you can summon a XYZ monster (Example: You summon Caius, then Illusory Snatch by his effect. Use Caius effect then you have 2 2400 ATK monsters in your field and you can summon a XYZ monster with them since Illusory Snatch will take Caius Level). The deck up there has 40 cards. You can build your own extra deck and side deck.
Are you not entertained?

Have anyone tryed the.. Chaos Build?

Basically, you run the main Monarchs like Raiza, Caius, Mobius and Thestalos. For the tributes, there are these two guys: Black Dragon Collapserpent and White Dragon Wyverbuster, aka the baby chaos dragons. Why? When one of these two is sent from the field to the graveyard, including for tributing, you can add the other dragon from your deck to your hand, so you can constantly have cards for tributes.

So, the deck works in this manner: fill the graveyard with Dark Monsters (and for this we run Gravekeeper Spy) or with Light Monsters with an Effect Veiler (to stop the opponent, obv), then special summon a Collapserpent or a Wyverbuster, tribute him for a Monarch. The new Monarch support (March of the Monarchs and Return of the Monarchs) are very important: the former protects our Monarchs, the latter adds another search power.

Reasons because I don't run BLS, Chaos Sorcerer, Lightpulsar, or other Chaos things: we'll only use the light and dark monsters for the baby dragons.

The Draw Engine is composed by Cardcar D, Maxx "C", and Pot of Duality.

Some techs are Illusory Snatcher, Soul Exchange and Double Summon.

Important: if you have "March of the Monarchs" and/or "Return of the Monarchs" in your side of the field, you can't summon monsters from the Extra Deck.. So I added "Kuraz, the Light Monarch" so we can destroy these cards for draw power and to summon monsters from the Extra.

Here's the Deck, hope you'll enjoy this!
